MARKING the launch of the official countdown to Christmas, festive fairy lights are turning on all over the country over the next few weeks.
Liverpool is no exception, with their Christmas display officially being switched on in November.

What time will the lights be switched on?
Liverpool will be switching on their the Christmas installation TODAY (Thursday November 9) from 4pm with the grand finale - the illuminating of the tree - at 6pm.
There is even a switch on song to accompany Santa turning on the 280 heart lights.

What should we expect?
The Christmas light show will include the iconic 30m-tall Christmas tree, that will take pride of place in Paradise Street.
There will be live music, giveaways, street entertainment and panto appearances to entertain the crowd before they are dazzled by the light installation.

Shops in the area are set to extend their opening hours so that spectators can also bag some bargains at the same time.
Grab a festive tipple at Bar Hutte, which is located under the whopping tree, or head to Chavasse Park for lots more entertainment at Christmas On The Park.
Here you will be able to find food and drinks stalls, children attractions and numerous rides.
